Western Sydney dog park sets tails wagging

The new state-of-the-art Shale Hills Dog Park at Western Sydney Parklands has opened to the community this week.

Planning and Public Spaces Minister Rob Stokes said the new $3.7 million park will be a major drawcard for dog-lovers.

“Shale Hills Dog Park is an exciting addition to the Southern end of Western Sydney Parklands and will provide residents from West Hoxton and surrounding communities with new quality green open space – right on the doorstep of the future Aerotropolis city,” Mr Stokes said.

Executive Director of Western Sydney Parklands Trust Suellen Fitzgerald said it’s incredibly satisfying to see the Trust deliver a community facility of this calibre, placing people and their pets at the heart of its design to meet the needs of the residents and visitors.

“The new dog park provides residents with a green recreational entry to the Parklands and natural firebreak, while showcasing the beautiful aesthetic of the adjacent bushland corridor and Shale Hills Walking Loop,” Ms Fitzgerald said.  

“This is the first of many transformational projects the Trust will deliver in the Parklands over the next decade.”
