Notice: Upgrades to Upper Canal near The Dairy
WaterNSW, the state’s largest bulk water supplier and river operator, is upgrading sections along the Upper Canal from March 2018 to 2020. The work along the Upper Canal will ensure it continues to meet contemporary safety standards, deliver water efficiently to its customers and improve access conditions. This work is essential to protect the canal’s significant heritage value, and ensure its structural integrity and continued operation supplying high quality water as part of Greater Sydney’s water supply system.

The Dairy is one of the Parklands’ quieter locations - ideal for groups looking for a more serene picnic spot or for large outdoor events. Simply sit and enjoy the vast district views from the hilltop location, walk or cycle the Parklands Track to explore the area.

What's at the Dairy
Picnic Shelters: The picnic shelters and benches at The Dairy are open for people to use free of charge on a first-come first-served basis. (Picnic shelters at other Parklands’ picnic areas are available for hire.)
Barbecues: Four electric barbecues are available for use, free of charge. Please clean up after yourself. BYO portable gas barbecues are allowed, but heat bead or coal barbecues are not permitted here.
Fire bans: During official TOTAL FIRE BAN periods, only the Parklands electric barbecues may be used.
Parking: Parking is available in marked bays. Bays are marked by signs and symbols and time restrictions apply in some areas.
Toilets: Toilets, including accessible facilities, are available at this location.
Parklands Track: Walk or cycle the pathways connecting The Dairy to Calmsley Hill City Farm, Lizard Log, Moonrise Lookout Sugarloaf Ridge and beyond to Prospect Reservoir.
Events Hire: The Dairy is an excellent location for larger events such as music festivals, and cross country runs. See Hold an Event for more information.
