MasterChef star to headline Parklands Food Fest

Matt Preston, celebrated food critic, cookbook author and star of Channel 10’s MasterChef Australia, will headline the attractions at this year’s Parklands Food Fest on Saturday 8 September 2018.

Parklands Food Fest, Western Sydney Parklands’ flagship event and a must‑do for Sydney’s food lovers, will take place at Lizard Log park, in Abbotsbury. 

The event will feature 50 food and drink stalls, cooking, food preparation and gardening demonstrations, as well as a local brewers’ marquee, live entertainment and a dedicated kids’ entertainment area. 

Matt Preston will feature in his own live cooking demonstration, demonstrating recipes from his books and delicious. magazine columns to encourage audiences to get cooking themselves. 

Minister for Environment and Heritage, Gabrielle Upton, said the theme for this year’s Parklands Food Fest was an important one. 

“When it comes to Parklands Food Fest, ‘homegrown’ is not just a buzzword – it’s a celebration of the rich cultural and culinary diversity that makes its home in Western Sydney,” Ms Upton said. 

“It also highlights the excellent work of Western Sydney Parklands’ growing Urban Farms Precinct, which ensures healthy and sustainable food production in the heart of Sydney. 

“I’m thrilled to announce that Matt Preston will headline Food Fest, because he’s done so much to celebrate the importance of food and home cooking skills.” 

Western Sydney Parklands Executive Director, Suellen Fitzgerald, said the range of businesses confirmed for Parklands Food Fest was diverse and exciting.

“If you’re feeling hungry, this is the event for you, whether you’re after the latest in street food or timeless favourites,” Ms Fitzgerald said.

“We have food from all over the world that is Western Sydney – from Vietnamese and Filipino to Italian, Egyptian and Texan barbecue, to bakers and dessert makers.

“There’s also an expanded produce market, including a special Urban Farms stall, so people can get a taste of what’s grown, right here, in Western Sydney Parklands.”
