What to know before you walk

Gabrugal Yana is an 11km bushwalk that connects you with Dharug Country and culture, and the story of six Dharug seasons, told through artwork created by First Nations artists.
Gabrugal Yana is open from sunrise to sunset.   Consider the temperature and time of day, especially in warmer months.
Click here to download the Gabrugal Yana itinerary and map, with points of interest and facilities.

For a safe and comfortable walk, bring these things with you:

  • Hat and sunscreen
  • Water (at least 2L per person)
  • Charged mobile phone with safety apps installed

Getting there

You can get there by car or public transport. Start the walk at Wylde MTB & BMX where there is free parking. You can also enter at Robey Ave where there is some street parking.

If you’re travelling by public transport, the closest bus stop is on Elizabeth Dr opposite Duff Rd, which is approximately a 30-minute walk from Wylde MTB & BMX. Local residents can also walk, run or cycle into the Parklands.

Starts and finishes: You can enter the walk via Wylde MTB & BMX or the Robey Ave entrance to the Parklands. We recommend starting and finishing at Wylde MTB & BMX where toilets, drinking water and free parking are available. Entrance: Via Range Rd, Cecil Park.

Respect the bushland environment

  • Stay on the path.
  • Remember that the trees are works of art and are for looking at only.
  • Take your rubbish with you.
  • Enjoy watching native wildlife from a distance.
  • If you see a snake, leave it alone. Stop, walk back slowly and wait for it to move away. Snakes will only attack if they feel threatened. Snakes are protected native animals. It is illegal to harm them.
  • Keep dogs on leads and don’t collect flora or firewood.

Bushfire safety

Bushfires may occur. The track will be closed during extreme weather conditions. For your safety, make sure you know where you are at all times.
We recommend downloading the NSW Hazards Near Me app to access local emergency warnings for fires and floods.
