OzHarvest – Our Parklands Food Fest 2018 Charity Partner

Parklands Food Fest is again proud to have OzHarvest on board as the event’s charity partner.

OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue organisation, collecting quality excess food from commercial outlets and delivering it directly to more than 1000 charities supporting people in need across the country.

OzHarvest will be presenting a live cooking demo, showing people how to make the best and most of food they use and how to reduce food waste. They’ll also be hosting a dedicated kids’ education workshop, helping them understand the true value of food.

And, as they always do, they’ll be taking what we don’t eat and making sure it gets to those in our community who need it most.

Harvest Hub and our Urban Farms

We’re proud to be partnering with Harvest Hub to bring you the best on offer from Western Sydney Parklands’ Urban Farms.

Harvest Hub connects the consumer with small growers across the Sydney Basin, offering freshly-picked, seasonal produce and groceries. They do this via an expanding network of food hubs across Sydney. This empowers communities to take control of their food supply, reducing packaging, food-miles, chemicals and reliance on big supermarkets.

This year, we’ve asked Harvest Hub to source fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs and other produce from farmers in Western Sydney Parklands’ Urban Farms Precinct, and make them available for purchase at Parklands Food Fest.

Our 40-hectare Urban Farms Precinct lies close to the Parklands Food Fest site and is helping ensure viable, sustainable food production in the Sydney Basin.
