From a twinkle in the eyes of planners in 1968, Western Sydney Parklands has been developing behind the scenes for more than 50 years. The Parklands was conceived with a single purpose – to provide infrastructure and open space for current and future communities in Western Sydney.
Now, five decades on, the Parklands is a living, breathing, self-sustaining organism that stands unique in Australia. At 5280 hectares, it’s Australia’s largest urban park and one of the largest in the world – something of which all of Sydney can be proud.
